Reid officiating. Burial will be in the Sandy Run Cemetery on Highway 210. Active pallbearers will be Shriners. Mr. Bruce, son of the late Primous and Mrs.

Rachel Johnson Bruce, was born in Orangeburg County Jan. 26, 1896. He was a member of St. Michael's Methodist Church for many years. While there he served a charge trustee, a church trustee, lay leader, treasurer, and Sunday School teacher.

He was a Mason, a past Worshipfull Master of Bowman Masonic Lodge 4, past patron of the Willing Workers Chapter 28 of Bowman, a member of the Omar Temple 119 of the state of South Carolina, a 33rd degree Mason and a farmer. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Verneta Summers Bruce of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Ross from Bowman, Mrs. Hazel Farrell, Mrs.

Emily Williams, both from of Troy, N.Y., Mrs. Martha Kennedy, Orangeburg and Mrs. Alma El, Jersey City, N.J.; four sons, Primous Leroy and Jeremiah Bruce, all of Bowman, and Thomas Bruce Jr. of Philadelphia, five sisters, Mrs. Lola Norton and Mrs.

Romell Thomas, both of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Clarice Moorer of Bowman, Mrs. Margia Moore, New York City, N.Y., and Lurline Bruce, Philadelphia, twenty grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchilren. Friends mayh call at the residence and at Bethea's Funeral Home in Bowman. The body will be in Bethea's Slumber Room in Bowman from 1:00 p.m.

Friday until the hour of service. MRS. DOTTTE ASHE ROWESVILLE, S.C. Mrs. Dottie Bonnette Ashe, 76, of Main Street, died Thursday at her home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Crosland Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Carl Funderburk officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs.

Ashe was born in Rowesville, a daughter of the late Arthur Luther and Celestia Edith Bair Bonnette. She was a lifelong member of Crosland Memorial Baptist Church and server for many years as church treasurer, clerk and organist. She was the widow of Edward Palmer Farr. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. J.K.

Westbury and Mrs. L.P. Walker of Rowesville; two grandsons, J.M. Lane III of Columbia and Harry A. Lane of Eutawville; and a great-granddaughter.

Friends may call at the home and at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. MRS. LONA FARR Mrs. Lona Bochette Farr, 85, of 275 Seminole St. SW, died Thursday at Jolly Acres Nursing Home after a long illness.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Reynolds and the Rev. J.M. Lane officiating.

Burial will be in the Bochette Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David and William Farr, Billy Bochette, Sammy Pritcher, Boyce Lefvendahl and Irby Smith. Mrs. Farr was born in Elloree, a daughter of the late Alexander Robert Bochette and Lula Rast Bochette. She was a member of St.

Pauls United Methodist Church and was the widow of Edward Palmer Farr. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Herman Way of Santee and Mrs. Harold Edgemon of Orangeburg; two sons, Joseph W. and Edward P.

Farr Jr. of Orangeburg; two brothers, W.C. Bochette of Orangeburg and L.D. Bochette of Gainesville, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the residence and at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home.

"He ran approximately five miles as the crow flies, but the way he was running, it was probably double or triple that distance," Smith said. Also assisting in the pursuit was the S.C. Highway Patrol and the Orangeburg City Police. Elmore crossed Kennerly Road and was spotted by Judy and the owner of the stolen vehicle. Judy caught Elmore and held him until the bloodhounds and investigating officers could arrive.

Members of the sheriff's posse are not allowed to arrest individuals. Elmore is being held at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Law Enforcement Complex detention center. A bond hearing is set for 8 a.m. Friday before Judge Ronald Salley. sheriff's posse, reported seeing the car stolen about 2 45 p.m.

As the car was being driven from Broughton Street onto the North Road, acting North Police Chief Edward Barnes, on his way into Orangeburg to serve a warrant, heard the description of the stolen car on his police radio. "I was looking at him when they were giving the description on the radio," Barnes said. With Barnes in pursuit, the car continued out on North Road, turned down Willington Road, and onto a dirt road which led to Kennedy Road. As the driver of the vehicle turned right, Barnes collided with the rear of vehicle, forcing it to hit a mailbox and plunge into a ditch. The driver then jumped out of the car and ran into nearby woods.

The S.C. Law Enforcement Division was then called for the use of bloodhounds to track the man in the woods and adjoining fields. After arrival of the bloodhounds approximately 45 minutes later, the man was tracked for about two hours before he was found about five miles away from the site of the Meets With Mixed Feelings TOMMY NEWTON WRIGHT EUTAWVILLE, S.C. -Tommy Newton Wright, 81, died Monday at his home in Eutawville after a brief illness. Bessie Wright and a native of Eutawville. Survivor are one brother, Van Wright of Eutawville, a sister-in-law, nieces an newphews. Friends may call at the residence of Van Wright or at Shuler-Marshall Funeral Home in Holly Hill, which is handling the arrangements. RICHARD JEFFCOAT CORDOVA, S.C. Richard Lee Jeffcoat, 8, of Route 1, Box 3064, Cordova died Tuesday.

Funeral will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pine Grove Baptist Church, Cordova with the Rev. A.M. Utsey officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Richard Lee Jeffcoat, son of Leroy and Dora Marie Cleckley Jeffcoat was born in Orangeburg County. He was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church and attended Edisto Primary School. Survivors include his parents, Leroy Jeffcoat Sr. and Dora Marie Jeffcoat of Cordova S.C; two brothers, Leroy Jeffcoat and Marvin Jeffcoat, both of Cordova; maternal grandparents, Issac and Mary Stevenson of Cordova; maternal great-grandmother, Dora C. Cleckley of Cordova; paternal grandparents, Jeremiah and Lorine Jeffcoat, both of Cordova.

Friends may call at the residence on the Cannon Bridge Road or at Jones-Simmons Funeral Home. TYRONE WILLIAMS CORDOVA, S.C. Tyrone Williams, 7, of 155 Tyler Road, Cordova, died Tuesday. Funeral will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pine Grove Baptist Church, Cordova with the Rev.

A.M. Utsey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Tyrone Williams, son of Wilbur and Beverly Williams Frazier, was born in Orangeburg County. He was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church and attended Rivelon Elementary School.

Surviving are his parents Wilbur and Beverly Frazier of Cordova; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary Lou Williams Jr. of Orangeburg; maternal great-grandparents, Jeremiah and Lorine Jeffcoat of Cordova; great-grandmother, Ethel Simpson Williams of Cordova; and paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Emma Julia Frazier of Cordova. RUTH BUTLER BAMBERG, S.C. Mrs. Ruth Butler died Thursday morning in Barnwell County Hospital after a long illness. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Butler Brooks of Barnwell, Mrs.

Susie B. Carroll and Mrs. Jessie B. Bartley, both of Bamberg and Mrs. Cora L.

Michael Lorenzo Elmore, 17, of 151 Fowlers Court, Orangeburg, was charged late Thursday with taking a 1971 Datsun automobile from an uptown parking lot and later wrecking the vehicle. "It was a hot day in the woods," said Chief Investigator C.R. Smith Jr. of the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Dep-tartment. "You never saw so many hot SLED agents and dogs." Highway officials said a project of this type normally takes about 18 months to complete the changes. But it's possible that the work could be done in half that time, they said. Right-of-way plans should be complete in three to four months, and acquisition of the needed property should begin in September if everything is on schedule, Brice said.
