Byrd, 81, of Route 1, Box 19, Branchville, died Friday at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia following a brief illness. Wayne Manning and the Rev. Robert Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery. Mr. Byrd was born in Orangeburg County, a son of the late Andrew N.

Byrd. and Anna Metts Byrd. He was a retired farmer, a member of Branchville Christian Church, Branchville Business League and Woodmen of the World. He was a lifelong resident of the community. Survivors include his widow, Mrs.

Lottie Ash Byrd of the home; a son, Rodger Byrd of Branchville; a sister, Rosanell Hungerpiller of Four Holes community; a granddaughter; three step-granddaughters and two step-grandsons. Mrs. Beaulah Caldwell Cecil W. Byrd NEW YORK The funeral for Mrs. Beaulah Mae Gilyard Caldwell, 48, of New York, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Emancipation Baptist Church, U.S.

Highway 601, St. Matthews, S.C., with the Rev. Uzell Hoeser officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be brothersin-law.

Mrs. Caldwell died Sunday. She was born in Orangeburg County, a daughter of Mrs. Catherine Baker Gilyard and the late William Gilyard. She was a graduate of Wilkinson High School in Orangeburg and received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Long Island University in Brooklyn, N.Y.

She was an early childhood instructor with the New York City school system. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Brooklyn, N.Y. Survivors include her husband, John Caldwell of the home; her mother of Orangeburg; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Thomas of Orangeburg and Miss Roslyn Caldwell of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a son, Frederick Caldwell of Brooklyn, N.Y.; nine sisters, Mrs. Thelma Haggerty of Amityville, N.Y., Mrs.

He was born in Orangeburg, a son of George Richard O'Cain Sr. and Elizabeth Fersner O'Cain. He was a graduate of Clemson University with a bachelor's degree in architecture. He was formerly associated with Lockwood-Greene Architects of Spartanburg and founded and later operated O'Cain Architecture of Spartanburg. He was a member of The American Institute of Architects and a board member of the Spartanburg American Red Cross chapter and the Spartanburg Clemson Club.

Neeses break-in nets thief haul worth $7,000 By JOYCE W. MILKIE Staff Writer NEESES, S.C. More than $7,000 worth of jewelry and other items were stolen Thursday afternoon from a residence in Neeses. Orangeburg County Sheriff C.R. Smith Jr.

said his office received a call about 2:45 p.m. that the home of William Herron, Route 2, Neeses, had been broken into, the thief, or thieves, gaining entry by prying open a door at the side of the building near the garage. Smith said among the missing items was a jewelry box containing approximately $6,000 worth of jewelry. Also taken during the break-in was a television set and a' microwave, valued at approximately $900, and other items. There also was damage to the door.

Lt. Grady Fulmer and Deputy Sheriff Rusty Williams were responding officers. Smith said the investigation will be turned over to the OCSD Detective Division. The sheriff said anyone having information about this break-in and theft should call his office or the Crimestoppers number.
