Everett Cooper Collins Everett Cooper Collins, 73, of Route 1, Box 62-B, Olar, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, in Providence Hospital in Columbia. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Springtown Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Cherokee Orangeburg, will be held at 3 p.m. SundayApril 1, 2001, at Thompson Funeral Home of Orangeburg, with the Rev. Ray Smith officiating. Burial will be in, Sunnyside Cemetery. Mr.

He was one of the first telephone operators of Elloree Telephone Company, and cotton weigher for Elloree as an elected official. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elloree. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Keitt (Shirley) Brandenburg of Elloree and Mrs. Ray (Dorothy) Young of Moncks Corner; a son, J.

Avery Bookhart of Orangeburg; the mother of his children, Mrs. Leila Bookhart Barr; 10 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren. Mary Alexander Mrs. Mary L. Alexander, 77, of 9 R. Andre Michaux Road, Bradford Village, Santee, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at The Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg. Funeral plans will be announced by Thompson Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Mrs. Alexander was born June 7, 1923, in Washington, D.C., a daughter of the late Charles C. Longcor and Elizabeth N. Murray Longcor. Survivors include her husband, Arthur W.

Alexander of Santee; two sons, Brian E. Alexander of Reva, Va. and Eugene W. Alexander of Centreville, three daughters, Dianne M. Alexander of Santee, Anita E.

Alexander of Ithaca, N.Y., and Marie E. Campbell of Greenville; a brother, Charles C. Longcor Jr. of Rockville, and four grandchildren. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Belverdere Cemetery in Eutawville. Mr. Haskell died Tuesday, March 27, 2001. He was born Sept. 3, 1940, a son of the Rev.

Fortune and Rena Green Haskell. He was a graduate of Central High School in Cross. He moved to New York and retired there as a transit bus operator in 1996. He was a member of Second Tabernacle Baptist Church in New York. He was a Mason.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Nellie "Sarah Lee" Haskell of the home; two sons, Irving Nathaniel and Jeffrey of New York; five sisters, Florrie Mae Henry of Bronx, N.Y., Viola Jerald of Florida, Alma Ruth Gaillard of Columbia, Neomi Meadows of New Jersey, and Georgiana Childs of Freeport, Long Island, N.Y.; three brothers, Joseph Mack of Florida, Henry Haskell of Moncks Corner, and Ben Haskell of Cross; and a grandson. Friends may call at the residence of James and Lillie Taste, 122 Rover Bend Cross, and Eutawville Community Funeral Home. Tyrone Corvette Tee' Hines Tyrone Corvette "Tee" Hines, 29, of P.O. Box 604, Rapid Edge Road, Summerton, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.

Funeral plans will be announced by Dyson's Home for Funerals. The family will receive friends at the residence of his mother, Lillie Mae Oliver Hines, Rapid Edge Road, Summerton. brothers, Randy Barnes of Columbia and Warren Dante Minnigan of the home; and his grandfather, Thomas Bonaparte of Orangeburg. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Jenkins Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Friends may call at the residence and the funeral home. Howard Houston Howard Houston, 89, of 860 W. Huson Circle, Orangeburg, formerly of Huxley, Iowa, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral plans will be announced by Thompson Funeral Home of Orangeburg. Mr.

Houston was born June 6, 1911, in Adams, a son of the late Noble Houston and Etta Wingert Houston. He was retired from Firestone in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a charter member of Ankeny Church of the Nazarene in Ankeny, Iowa. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Hazel Fey Houston of Orangeburg; five sons, the Rev.

Rex Houston of Charleston, Dan Houston and Wes Houston, both of Iowa, the Rev. Duane Houston of Orangeburg, and Lowell Houston of Dallas; a daughter, Beth Houston Neilson of Salem, a sister, Verna Jean Houston of Lincoln, 15 grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Mary Clare F. Ulmer The funeral for Mrs. Mary Clare Felder Ulmer, 88, of 2517 Four Holes Road, Orangeburg, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Four Holes Baptist Church with the Rev.

David Walker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Ulmer died Friday. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs.

Albert (Ginger) Fogle of Cordova and Mrs. Gerald Patricia Hill of Charleston; two sons, Irvin H. Ulmer Jr. of Florence and Fred Felder Ulmer of Charleston; nine grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. 6, 1927, in Bamberg County, a son of the late Roy Collins and Ogretta Black Collins. He was a member of Springtown Baptist Church. He was self-employed. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ethel Blume Collins of Olar; three daughters, Anne Jackson of Canadys, Rachel Riley of Orangeburg, and Jean Jones of Branchville; three sisters, Margaret Blume of Bamberg, Inez Scott of Nashville, and Rosa Ella Black of Barnwell; seven grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cooner Funeral Home of Bamberg. Mrs. Lessie Bryant-Hammond Mrs. Lessie Bryant-Hammond, 94, of Brooklyn, N.Y., died March 13, 2001.

The funeral was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2001, at First Baptist Church of Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn, N.Y Burial was in Rosehill Cemetery in Lindon, N.J. Mrs. Hammond was born Aug. 12, 1906, in Bamberg, a daughter of the late Samuel and Alice Abel Bryant.

At an early age, she joined Bethel United Methodist Church in Bamberg. In 1939, she served at Claflin United Methodist Church in Bamberg, where she was a supervisor for the Youth Department. In 1947, she moved to Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. She worked for the board of education as a matron for 25 years. She later joined Glover Memorial Baptist Church, where she was president of the Senior Choir.

In 1962, she joined First Baptist Church of Sheepshead Bay, she served on the Senior Choir, the Deacon Board, and the Missionary Circle. She was married to the late Daniel Hammond. Survivors include four daughters, Caretha Ford, Naomi Manigault, Lottie Ramsey, all of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mozelle Riley of Orangeburg; a son, Daniel Hammond Jr. of Orangeburg; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a number of great-greatgrandchildren. Glover's Funeral Home of Orangeburg was in charge of local arrangements.

Nathaniel Haskell The funeral for Nathaniel Haskell, 60, of 145-11 228 St. Marion Bookhart Sr. Marion L. Bookhart 93, of 555 Lafayette Alley, Elloree, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg following a brief illness. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m.

Monday at Santee Baptist Cemetery, with the Rev. C. Clark McCrary III officiating. Mr. Bookhart was born Jan.

31, 1908, a son of John L. and Effie Ann Houser Bookhart. The casket will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. Mr. Wiles was born in Orangeburg County, a son of the late Willie D. Wiles and Fannie Summers Wiles. He was a member of Bowman Southern Methodist Church where he was an adult Sunday school teacher and a member of the Cartwright Mens Fellowship.

He was a retired Liberty Life Insurance man. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Helen E. Wiles of Branchville; two sons, Jimmy D. Wiles of Branchville and Don W.

Wiles of California; a daughter, Mrs. Wanda W. Porter of Orangeburg; a brother, WD. Wiles of Moncks Corner; five sisters, Mrs. Mag Smoak, Mrs.

Virginia Waterman, and Mrs. Joyce Collins, all of Branchville, Mrs. Jean Garrick of Holly Hill, and Mrs. Jewell McLellan of Cordova; and two granddaughters. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Liberty Hill Christian Church in Givhans, with the Rev. Graylin Hampton, Bishop Herbert Kitt and Elder Gussie Rivers officiating. John United Methodist Church Cemetery in Dorchester. Mr. Bryant was born June 30, 1918, in Dorchester, a son of the late John Bryant and Mrs. Carrie Smith Bryant. He attended the public schools of Dorchester County.

He was founder and overseer of Bryant Temple Holiness Church (Church of Christ Apostolic), where he pastored for 43 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, former proprietor of Bryant Grocery Store, and was a retired employee of the Charleston Navy Yard, where he worked for 36 years. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lillie Bell Bryant of Dorchester; two daughters, Mrs.

Carrie Buckner of Walterboro and Mrs. Emma Bannister of Ridegville; a son, Frank Joseph Bryant of Charleston; five grandchildren; and seven stepgrandchil-dren. Roderick Belin officiating. Burial will be in Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Orangeburg.

The casket will be placed in the church at noon. Mr. Hodges died Wednesday. He was born March 22, 1965, in Columbia, a son of Mrs. Johnnie Lee Hodges and the late Leon Hodges.

He graduated from Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School and attended Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. He was member of Williams Chapel AME Church. Survivors include his mother of the home; two sisters, Marketta Q. Hodges of the home and Aisha Z. Hodges of Chester, two South Carolina prison, ran a shortlived campaign for Ohio governor, built a lavish church compound, and, on Friday, agreed to annul his marriage to a wealthy 76-year-old widow In Loving Memory of Mr.

After Eloise Thomas Jenkins married the self-ordained minister on January 12, her relatives accused him of marrying her for her money.

She and her late husband won $6.9 million in the Ohio Lottery in 1992, and her wealth is estimated to be at least $2 million. Jenkins, 64, said he married her to protect her from relatives and several attorneys who were after her A judge ruled that Mrs. Jenkins was incompetent and on March 16 appointed Sen. Ben Espy, Columbus, as her guardian. Judge Lawrence Belskis also ruled that it was not in Mrsi Jenkms' best interest to continue living with her new husband.

Jenkins' attorney, David Meyer, said Friday that although Jenkins disputes that his wife is incompetent, all those involved agree that the marriage was not consummated.
