In Eutawville, a Fountain Lake Drive man told deputies that someone broke into his residence through the window and stole a 19-inch color TV and microwave oven. On St. David Street, a 28-year-old man reported that while he was out of town, someone broke into his residence and stole two 12-inch speakers, a Nintendo game set, VCR, and wedding and engagement rings. In another incident in Santee, a Lake City woman who owns a resort house at Santee Estates told deputies someone stole her portable TV, Zenith VCR and marble-top table from the residence.

Smith said the table was recovered hours later from an informant who claims to have bought it from someone already in jail for burglary. At Brookdale Middle School, a mother of two students filed a report against two other students, ages 14 and 15, who allegedly attacked her children. Smith said they advised the woman to seek help through the Department of Juvenile Justice in conjunction with school officials. Another report of assault and battery came from the detention center, where an inmate claims he was attacked in his cell by another inmate with a map wringer, which injured his shoulder. Smith said they expect to see a warrant filed by prison officials against the inmate.

Several vehicles throughout the county were illegally entered. In Santee, a Scranton man whose car was in the parking lot of the Santee Factory Outlet Mall told deputies Sunday someone broke inside and stole the cellular telephone, while a Eutawville man said someone stole his income tax refund from an envelope inside his car parked in the yard. In Holly Hill, a Eutawville woman said her car, a 1984 Honda, was stolen while she was dining in a barbecue place Saturday evening. Two hours later, South Carolina Highway Patrol told deputies her stolen car was totalled in an accident on Highway 638 in Holly Hill and the driver had fled the scene. On Thursday, deputies recovered a wrecked vehicle on Pineland Street.

The vehicle had been stolen from The Communications Group at 746 Joe S. Jeffords Highway. Sheriffs reports said someone cut through the gates and pulled off in a silver, Ford van. The tools used in the robbery were reportedly found near the nearby bowling center on the highway. Smith also said they recovered a 1987 Buick Regal, which was reported stolen Monday by a Riley Road woman.

The report said the car was stolen from the woman's yard overnight. Several hours later, the woman located the car. In other reports, a clerk at The Corner Slot in Santee told deputies a man who stayed inside the store all night had allegedly stolen a money bag from the counter while she was away. A witness described the suspect as a black male, 26, 5-foot-3 and wearing light brown pants and a light brown jacket. Detective Ernest Wigfall is investigating the incident.

Continued from Page 1 took them and left. The only description the Orangeburg County Sheriffs Office has of the suspects are they were black males between the ages of 20 and 25. Another armed robbery reported to the sheriffs office took place Thursday on Campus Drive. Sheriffs reports said a Quick Street woman walking down the 1400 block of Campus Drive was confronted by a man wearing a blue hooded jacket and holding a 9-mm handgun. He then demanded all of her money and fled the scene.

At Magnolia Street, a 16-year-old juvenile told authorities on Thursday he was attacked by two juveniles at Roosevelt Gardens Apartments. They took his bookbag and struck him in the eye. The juvenile also said one of the attackers pointed a handgun at him. In Santee, a 60-year-old man told deputies that while he was walking to his house, someone jumped him from behind and pushed him to the ground. While the man was on the ground, the robber took his wallet and fled on foot.

All four incidents are under investigation. The sheriffs office is also investigating an apparent case of criminal sexual conduct which took place Sunday morning at a nightclub off a dirt road on Russell Street. According to OCSO reports, a 27-year-old woman at the One-Stop Night Club asked someone there to take her home. Instead of taking her home, the subject allegedly drove to a wooded area and raped her. The victim was able to get to a convenience store and contact the sheriffs office, which is investigating the incident.

On Sunday, a resident of Orangeburg Manor was arrested by a deputy on routine patrol and charged with two counts of possession of stolen guns and two counts of illegal possession of firearms. Sheriffs reports said that while on routine patrol near the Kick Booty Discount Store on Dorchester Street, the deputy noticed a group of subjects gathered around in the parking lot near a vehicle. After looking closer, the deputy reportedly noticed two handguns on the floorboard and arrested the vehicle's owner, Travis Alexander Harrison, 19, of 263 Orangeburg Manor. The weapons were then checked for registration, during which it was discovered one of the weapons was stolen from the OCSO while the second handgun belonged to a Whittaker Parkway woman. Harrison remains at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Detention Center awaiting his bond.

Several burglaries were reported over the weekend. In Elloree, a man reported that someone entered his residence by prying open a window and stole his 19-inch Zenith Color television set, while in North, a 37-year-old woman said a burglar ransacked her home on Limestone Road and stole a Williams Funeral Home of Elloree. We apologize for the error. COLUMBIA (AP) Corrinne Koenig says she's been unfairly treated in prison because she struck and killed the daughter of U.S. Sen. Strom Thurmond in an alcohol-related driving accident in April 1993. Koenig was sentenced to 2-12 years in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter this past September.

Police said her blood alcohol level was .16 at the time of the accident. The state's legal limit is .10. Koenig was rejected for furlough this past week after Thurmond's children objected. She goes before the parole board Wednesday. "It makes you feel pretty small because it's so political," Koenig told WIS-TV Monday.

'You're so small that you can't fight against them." Koenig said she would never forget hitting 22-year-old Nancy Moore Thurmond as the young woman crossed a Columbia street. She also said she didn't need to be locked up for the accidental death.
